Protheragen Focuses on Infant and Children's Health Issues

Nutraceuticals for Infant and Childrens Health

With the changes in people's eating habits and lifestyles in modern society, children's health issues deserve more attention. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), 27 million children (ages 19 and younger) have high cholesterol levels. On top of this, millions of children are overweight or obese, which in turn contributes to the rapid rise in type 2 diabetes.

As a result, health-conscious parents are increasingly demanding nutritional products for children, which is driving innovation in the nutraceutical market. At present, low-sugar, safe and dietary supplements are the current mainstream trends in infant nutrition and health care products.

Protheragen is focusing on the health of infants and young children, and is committed to meeting the nutritional needs of children at different stages and providing solutions that parents want.

Nutraceuticals for Infant and Children's Health

Nutrients needed early

Failure to provide adequate macronutrients or key micronutrients during critical periods of brain development can have lifelong effects on children. Nutrients that specifically affect early brain development and exhibit critical or sensitive periods include protein, specific fats (e.g., LC-PUFAs), glucose, micronutrients, zinc, copper, iodine, iron, selenium, vitamins and cofactors, B vitamins (B6, B12), vitamin a, vitamin k, folate, choline. [1]

Probiotics

Probiotic intake has been associated with a variety of health-promoting benefits, including disease prevention and even treatment by modulating the gut microbiota. Clinical evidence highlights the effects of paraprobiotics (non-viable probiotics) on atopic dermatitis, respiratory and gastrointestinal infections in children and young children, in addition to being useful in immunocompromised individuals. [2]

Probiotics

Choline and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

Choline and DHA play important roles in infant brain and eye development, and insufficient intake can lead to visual and neurocognitive deficits. Studies have found that there is synergy between nutrients in neurocognitive development, and supplementation of one can enhance the effect of the other. [3]

Vitamins and minerals

Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients for human growth and development. Malnutrition in children is often accompanied by a variety of vitamin and mineral deficiencies and deficiencies, among which vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, folic acid deficiencies, and calcium, iron, and zinc deficiencies are more common. Deficiency and insufficiency of vitamins and minerals will have adverse effects on children's growth and development, especially intelligence, physique, rabbit disease level and concentration.

Reduce the development of atherosclerotic complications in children

Atherosclerosis is a disease that begins in childhood. It is mediated by well-established risk factors such as hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, hypertension and obesity. The figure lists potential nutraceutical current strategies supported by clinical research (e.g., fiber, omega-3-fatty acids, vitamin D, antioxidants, and calcium), designed to modify each risk factor.
