Glutamine

Glutamine is the first non-basic supplement chosen by most skinny beginners in the process of gaining muscle, especially for those with high training intensity. Glutamine can not only promote intestinal absorption and improve the absorption capacity of nutrients, but also promote the release of growth hormone secreted by the human body, and promote the secretion of insulin and testosterone, thereby promoting muscle growth. Protheragen Nutraceuticals provides high-quality glutamine products for the majority of fitness enthusiasts.

The Efficacy of Glutamine

Promotes muscle synthesis and prevents muscle breakdown

Although there is currently no direct research evidence that glutamine promotes muscle synthesis, some findings suggest that an important role for glutamine in amino acid-stimulated insulin secretion (AASIS) and glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) has been identified. [1]

Relieve muscle soreness and relieve muscle fatigue

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled crossover study examined the effects of L-glutamine supplementation on quadriceps strength and soreness ratings after eccentric exercise. The results show that L-glutamine supplementation can restore peak torque faster and reduce muscle soreness after eccentric exercise. Additionally, L-glutamine may have a greater effect on muscle strength recovery in men than in women. [2]

Maintain immune function and prevent immune function decline after exercise

It has been speculated that the inability of muscles to provide sufficient glutamine may lead to a decrease in the proliferation rate of lymphocytes against antigens, and thus may weaken immune defenses against viral infection. Numerous studies have shown that although a direct effect of reducing glutamine availability by immune cells is unlikely, glutamine may have indirect effects on immune function and infection incidence through retention of the antioxidant glutathione or maintenance of intestinal barrier function. [3]

Facilitates weight loss in non-dieting obese patients

A pilot study assessed anthropometric and metabolic profiles of obese and overweight female patients who consumed glutamine supplements and standard protein supplements. This preliminary study suggests that glutamine is safe and effective in promoting weight loss and possibly enhancing glucose metabolism. [4]

How Safe Is Glutamine?

  • Glutamine has a relatively high safety profile for healthy people, usually in small doses.
  • Glutamine is generally not recommended for kidney patients.
  • When glutamine intake accounted for 12% of total amino acid intake, there were no adverse reactions. And when this ratio increased to 24%, there was serious damage to the colon.
  • We recommend that you take a little supplement after a long-term exhausting aerobic exercise. Large-dose supplementation is not recommended, and there is no need for long-term high-dose supplementation.
